The map and table below depict the predominant commuting flows in Central Arkansas. Most jobs are in Pulaski County, especially Little Rock. Residents commute to these jobs from outlying cities and the three outlying counties. The regional commuting pattern is radial in nature, meaning an inward flow from residences in the suburbs to jobs in the center. Unlike some metro areas, the region has relatively few “orbital” commutes from one suburb to another. The bulk of suburb-to-suburb flows also follow the inward radial pattern.

As the table shows, the largest flow is simply across the river from North Little Rock to Little Rock. Commuting in the opposite direction from Little Rock to North Little Rock ranks second. Of the top nine flows, eight of them are inbound to Little Rock. Of the remaining six flows, most go to North Little Rock, but Bryant and Benton also make the list.
