Metroplan currently has 3 open EEI funding opportunities:

Application Deadline

Rolling – applications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis

Eligible Entities

Metroplan member cities and counties.
Other units of government, special districts, utilities, and non-profit organizations may be eligible to partner with an eligible municipal or county government.

1. Green Networks

Land Preservation

Funds the conservation of land to protect its air quality benefits into perpetuity.

Land Restoration

Funds projects that improve air quality and carbon sequestration through the restoration of natural areas. Eligible land restoration activities include (but are not limited to) invasive species removal and management, prairie and riparian buffer establishment, erosion control, reforestation, and increasing biodiversity with native plants. Restoration will be categorized by activities within the following land types: forest, prairie, wetland/floodplain, riparian area, or stream/riverbank.

Tree Planting

Intended to fund projects that oversee tree planting activities (primarily saplings) in parks, right-of-ways, neighborhoods, and other urban environments. Eligible tree planting activities include (but are not limited to) plant materials, growing containers, soil and amendments, site preparation, education, and watering.

Multi-use Trail Construction

Intended to award projects that reduce pollution from greenhouse gases. Projects must be construction ready with design completed or nearly completed and right of way fully or substantially acquired.


2. Transportation Efficiency

Replacement of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Fleet Vehicles with Electric Vehicles (EV)

Available Rebates: $10,000 per new sedan or SUV, $15,000 per new light-duty truck or first responder vehicle, and $4,000 per used vehicle.

EV Charger Installation

Available Rebate: up to $7,250 per charging port (each port must have its own designated power supply).

Streetlight Replacement with LED Fixtures

For replacement of municipal-owned or utility-owned fixtures.


3. Building Efficiency

Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) Cohort

The Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) Cohort Program provides structured training, technical assistance, peer learning opportunities, and direct support from Metroplan’s Energy Ambassador to help public entities evaluate, procure, and implement energy-efficiency projects.
