Central Arkansas EEI Focus Area 2: Increase Energy Savings, Independence, and Resilience
Local governments and other organizations can often save thousands of dollars each year by installing solar on their buildings. They can also strengthen the electric grid by adding solar panels that will create power even during an outage, and by adding battery storage. These actions, plus energy efficiency measures that reduce the amount of energy required to heat and cool buildings, will save money, increase grid resilience, and improve air quality.

Solar Panels
Panels that convert the sun’s energy into electricity. The electricity can be used immediately or stored in batteries for later use. Panels can be installed on rooftops or on the ground near the building.
Building Efficiency Upgrades
Changes to the building’s structure or systems that make it use less energy. Examples include LED lighting, tankless or electric water heaters, more efficient furnaces/air conditioners, better build-ing sealing/insulation, and automatic building controls that can turn off lights and adjust the room temperature to save even more energy.
