Central Arkansas EEI Focus Area 5: Expand Electric Vehicle Charging
Electric vehicles are becoming more popular in Central Arkansas, and they have many potential benefits, including reducing air pollution and being cheaper to own than gas-powered cars. Building more electric vehicle chargers across the region will allow more people to own electric vehicles and can attract businesses who want to be located near electric vehicle charging.

EV Charging Station
A device that provides electricity to recharge the batteries of plug-in electric vehicles.
Level 2 Charging Station
A Level 2 EV charger is a device that charges electric vehicles (EVs) faster than the standard chargers you might use at home. While a standard out-let might take all night to charge your car, a Level 2 charger can do it in just a few hours. These chargers are usually found at locations where drivers might stay for an hour or more.
DC Fast Charging Station
The supercharger for electric vehicles (EVs). It charges your EV much fast-er than both regular home chargers and Level 2 chargers. It uses direct current (DC) instead of alternating current (AC), which allows it to charge an EV up to 80% in about 20 to 30 minutes. These chargers are usually found at public charging stations, especially along highways, making them perfect for long road trips when you need a quick recharge.
