Central Arkansas Energy and Environment Innovation Priority Action Plan

As part of its $440,000 EEI planning contract with the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment, Metroplan submitted a Central Arkansas regional supplement to the statewide EEI Priority Action Plan (PAP) on December 1, 2023.

The PAP’s purpose is to vet and analyze potential greenhouse gas reduction measures that are well-suited and well-supported in the region.

The statewide PAP was submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on March 1, 2024. It was a prerequisite to any state or entity applying for Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) implementation funding.

Thanks to this PAP, the Tri-Regional Energy and Environment Innovation Coalition, made up of Metroplan, Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, and the City of Fort Smith, was able to win $99,999,999 in federal CPRG implementation funding – with no match required!
