Central Arkansas Regional Transportation Study (CARTS)

Central Arkansas Regional Transportation Study (CARTS) is the metropolitan planning area for Metroplan. The study area covers Faulkner, Pulaski, Saline, and northwestern Lonoke counties. The CARTS area is the area for which transportation projects are planned and listed in the Transportation Improvement Program and the area for which Metroplan focuses the majority of its planning efforts, including the long-range plan.

Originally covering only parts of Pulaski County (about 319 square miles), the CARTS area today encompasses 2458 square miles.
